Florence Namuyige is a nineteen-year-old girl and the fourth of five siblings living with her aunt. At seventeen, while in primary seven, she got involved with a boy who made false promises and later found out she was pregnant at three months. The relationship ended, and the boy denied responsibility.
Her mother was disappointed but still allowed Florence to take her final exams. However, the news affected her studies, and she often fell asleep in class. After giving birth to her son, who now has developmental delays, she felt lost.
Luckily, she found the Mukisa Foundation and joined a tailoring course because of her love for fashion. “Since I joined, I have gained skills and seen my son improve through therapy,” she says.
Florence is grateful for the support they received and is determined to provide a better life for herself and her son. “I hope to inspire teenage mothers to seek help and pursue their dreams,” she says.
