Strengthening Families to Create Sustainable Futures
Families of children with disabilities often face heightened economic vulnerability due to caregiving demands, limited livelihood opportunities, and the additional costs associated with disability. Mukisa’s socio economic empowerment program is designed to strengthen household resilience and promote long term self reliance for caregivers and families.
Through this program, caregivers are supported to access livelihood skills training, income-generating activities, and financial literacy, including savings and basic business management. Where possible, families are linked to community savings groups, vocational opportunities, and local markets to enhance sustainable income generation.
The program also emphasises caregiver empowerment and peer support, creating safe spaces for parents especially mothers to share experiences, build confidence, and advocate for their children’s rights. By improving household economic stability, families are better able to meet their children’s health, nutrition, education, and therapy needs.

Income generating activities
Our program empowers parents and caregivers by enhancing financial literacy and income-generating skills.
Through interactive workshops, we provide vocational training and start-up kits, while fostering entrepreneurship and business development. Participants engage in practical exercises on savings, banking, bookkeeping, and budgeting equipping them with the tools to build sustainable businesses and secure their financial future
Self-Help Groups
Self-help groups provide parents with both emotional support and practical solutions. Within these groups, parents come together to share experiences, exchange ideas, and develop small businesses that generate income. This not only enables them to meet some of their children’s basic needs but also empowers them to live with dignity and hope.
Mentorship and psychosocial support
Our program provides comprehensive emotional and informational support, coupled with strong advocacy. These elements are vital for fostering resilience, combating stigma, and promoting both mental and physical well-being. Through mentorship and psychosocial care, we empower individuals to thrive in challenging environments and build sustainable pathways to health and success.
Emergency Relief
We respond swiftly when families face unexpected challenges whether due to health emergencies, natural disasters, or economic shocks.
