Sage Aaron’s story started with a healthy pregnancy and regular checkups at Naguru Hospital. During one visit, a scan showed possible spinal issues, so he was referred to Kawempe Hospital. There, doctors confirmed Spina Bifida, and his mother was told to deliver at Cure Hospital in Mbale, where immediate surgical intervention could be provided.

At birth, Aaron was very small and had low muscle tone, which worried his mother. The quick surgery gave him hope. By the time he joined Mukisa Foundation in July 2025 at eight months old, he could not roll over, sit, crawl, or hold objects.

Aaron’s development was delayed. He had paralysis in his lower limbs, foot deformities, and could not move his knees and ankles well.

After three months of regular therapy, Aaron has made great progress. He can now move from lying down to sitting up on his own and can pick up and let go of toys more easily. He takes part in therapy with confidence and curiosity. With more therapy, Aaron will start learning to crawl, stand, walk, and become more independent in his daily life.

Aaron’s journey demonstrates the significant impact of early interventions, therapy, and family support. He has gone from a fragile newborn to a determined boy making real progress. With continued care, he is on track to gain more mobility and independence.
